QUESTION

If either or both of one's parents have died displeased with him, is it possible to make amends for their displeasure after their death?  If so, what are the methods of doing it?

ANSWER

One can do so by performing any optional deeds such as the recitation of the Qur'an, the giving of charity and remit the rewards to them.  He should also seek divine forgiveness for them, repay their depths, if any, and if he can afford, perform Hajj on their behalf or assign someone else to perform it. Thus, it is hoped that they will become pleased and he will be considered obedient.
