Question

I know for males to wear gold is forbidden (Haraam) but recently I heard that males could wear a certain amount of gold.  Could you tell me if this is true under any circumstances?

It is not permissible (Haraam) for males to wear gold.  It is stated in a hadeeth:

The Prophet (Peace be upon him) took some silk which he placed in his right hand and then took some gold which he placed in his left hand.  He then pronounced, ” Verily these two items are forbidden (unlawful) for the males of my Ummah (Nation).
